Combat Ready Art

Jon Reeves

Artist Jon Reeves has called Kalamazoo home since 1989, when the Kalamazoo Civic theater hired him to be its youth theater technical director. Since that time, Reeves have designed and built hundreds of shows for many of the areas’ theaters. When not building a show, he can be found making theatrical weapons and teaching actors how to fight with them. Having received a B.A. in technical design and production from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Reeves also work as a sculpture artist in my studio. My main medium is steel, but he also work with brass, copper, fabric, and lots of reclaimed throw-aways. The weapons and sculpture studio is named Combat Ready Art. I make a range of pieces, from large-scale sculptures to knives and barbecue tools.
