KALAMAZOO, MI — Downtown Kalamazoo continues to expand its social district to include more participants and a wider geographic footprint.

Called the Central Commons Refreshment Area, this stretch of downtown Kalamazoo allows people to purchase to-go beverages from approved bars, restaurants, breweries, wineries and other businesses and enjoy them while walking through specific sections of the city.

Participating businesses will serve drinks is branded cups and the proper drinking zones are marked with the Central Commons logo.

The Central Commons, organized by Kalamazoo Downtown Partnerships, is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Drinks must be consumed prior to entering other participating establishments. Several of our partners on our walking tours of Downtown Kalamazoo are participating in the Central Commons — meaning you can share more drinks together between stops. For a full list our of walking tours, including our new Makers Tours featuring a local winery, distillery and brewery, check out our calendar.
