Kalamazoo Beer Exchange
211 E. Water Street
Kalamazoo, MI 49007

The Kalamazoo Beer Exchange is a two-story multi-tap bar and grill located in the beautifully restored Globe Building in downtown Kalamazoo. Offering 28 rotating draught beers from around the world, the Kalamazoo Beer Exchange bases pricing of these draught beers on real-time sales, like the stock market, resulting in an ever-evolving happy hour. Occasional “market crashes” will occur daily, dropping beer prices to their all-time low. The Kalamazoo Beer Exchange also offers a menu of interestingly prepared classic pub fare. Classic dishes will be made new again from the Bar Plates to the Main Fare and the open kitchen design will allow you to see just how “hand-made” the food really is.

Second Stop

Boatyard Brewing Company

Please join us on our great adventure. During the summer of 2011, Dan Gilligan and I decided to form a brewery that will create exceptional craft beers. From this singular idea, the Boatyard Brewing Company has been born and our lives are changed forever.

Since then, Dan and I have spent countless hours developing some of the best traditional ale recipes, as well as our own unique offerings. After sharing hundreds of samples and listening to honest reviews, we are now satisfied that we have the craft beer recipes needed to build a successful brewery.

We would like all of you to join us on our journey; not just as customers, friends and suppliers, but as members of the BBC family. Come along for the ride, enjoy our craft beers, and help make Michigan the best place to live.

Third Stop

Paw Paw Brewing Company

Paw Paw Brewing Company was established in early 2010 by brother-in-laws Ben Fleckestein and Ryan Sylvester, placed in the
small village of Paw Paw on the banks of the Paw Paw River surrounded by beautiful Wilderness. The idea behind Paw Paw Brewing Company was to create a place where the community could gather and connect with one another over a pint of locally hand crafted beer. In early December 2010 the door opened for business with four beers on tap, St. James English Mild, Black River Oatmeal Stout, Paw Paw Wheat and 2Paws IPA. Paw Paw Brewing Company’s grand opening celebration was January 21, 2011.

Over the course of the first two years Paw Paw Brewing Company became the community place it was intended to be. Many ingredients have gone into creating Paw Paw Brewing as it has become today but none more important than the community and the Paw Paw Brewing Company team.

Bonus Stop

St. Julian Winery

For over 92 years, the Winery now known as St. Julian Wine Co., Inc. has produced award-winning products. From the first shoots of the Michigan spring through the harvest and barrel tasting of late fall, the family tradition that has flourished transforms grapes to wine, fruit to nectar, as passion and science converge bottle after bottle, case after case.

St. Julian will provide West Michigan Beer Tours with a tasting of their popular Gunga-Din hard cider. Gunga-Din captures the true essence of fresh apple cider! The distinct aromas of Golden Delicious and Gala apples leap from the glass. Crisp acidity and the perfect touch of sweetness make this hard cider perfect until the last drop.

Testimonials

  • "I wanted to thank you once again for all of your help in coordinating this outing.  The end result was just fantastic!  We have heard lots of positive comments from our team about how nicely it went.  You were extremely attentive to detail and continually checked in to make sure all was going well.  That means a lot to me as a coordinator.  You didn't miss a detail and it resulted in an excellent time had by our group.  I've heard the comment numerous times that if they are going to be in the Kalamazoo area with friends, they are going to look you up!"

  • "We booked a walking tour with John back in April and couldn't have been more happy with our experience and guide. I booked the tour as a present for my husband for our 20th wedding anniversary. From the beginning John set out to help make our day memorable. He asked what plans we had and as I shared them with him, he was able to partner us with other community businesses that would help make our special occasion more comfortable and enjoyable. We have lived in the Portage area for the past 30 years so we really weren't sure what to expect. John was funny, engaging, and very informative. I learned much about the downtown area and local craft beer arena that I didn't know. I would highly recommend the tour. Thank you once again John for making our anniversary so much fun!"

  • "I would like to thank you for a wonderful day on Saturday. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day. Andrea and Trevor were great guides. They shared just the right amount of information as the day went on and mingled with the group well. The bus was comfortable and our driver was helpful and courteous. We enjoyed each of the breweries and experiencing what each had to offer both in terms of the beers and ciders and in their individual styles. We received compliments all day about how much fun it was and we owe it all to you. Thank you for providing the organization and hosting such a great event for us!"
Dara M., Three Rivers, Mich. — October, 2016
  • "We did a private tour for my 40th, and West Michigan Beer Tour provided us a great time! They were great to work with in terms of planning it, answering questions and changing things as needed. It was well organized, and it was great to just be there to enjoy the day, rather than having to organize things myself. The tour guides were great too. This was a great way to gather friends and family together, as all ages can enjoy this! This was my 2nd tour, I had been part of a bike tour last summer, and that also was great fun! I would definitely recommend the tours either privately or as part of public tour."
